Please Note:  Classes and events are limited to verified Calusa Point Residents ONLY -  ages 15 and up

Classes will be held on a weather-permitting basis. Cancellation notices due to unfavorable weather conditions will be posted on Instagram and on the Calusa Point page on YogaByRose.com by  6 pm weekdays or 1 hour prior to on the day of class or event.

Reminder:  There will be no class on the LAST TUESDAY of the month due to the monthly H.O.A. meeting.

Yoga Etiquette: 

  • Arrive 5-10 minutes early

  • Turn off your cell phones

  • Enter and unroll your mat quietly

  • Be mindful of where you place your mat

  • Observe good body hygiene 

  • Be respectful to others by limiting chatting

  • Place head towards the front of the room at the end of class 

  • Stay for Savasana (final relaxation) - It's the most important part of class!

  • Practice Ahimsa (non-violence)

Aqua is a fun, fast paced water work out that combines cardio, core, balance and strength training. This is an interval style class with a proper warm up and cool down. Props are used at the instructor’s discretion.

This class is designed to promote cardiovascular and muscular endurance as well as flexibility through using water resistance.

Aqua, Aqua-Fit, Water aerobics, or aqua aerobics, use the natural resistance and buoyancy of water against your body to provide a wide variety of conditioning activity.

No swimming is required in water aerobics, and flotation devices are used frequently. Water exercise helps increase your energy, stamina and strength --and it is a healthy way to cool off in the summer!

Benefits of Aqua

Mat Pilates is designed to challenge the beginner and the practicing Pilates student. Mat classes are a great way to learn the fundamental principles of the Pilates method. Pilates is a full body-conditioning program comprised of a series of approximately 500 designed movements performed on a mat and/or on specific apparatus.

 

Pilates improves strength, flexibility, balance, control and muscular symmetry. The rhythmic exercises promote elongated and toned muscles, and are noted for developing abdomen, lower back and buttocks strength, and create a strong body core.

Studies show that cultivating Mindfulness, can help relieve symptoms of Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Body Image.  It also helps to improve focus, attention, concentration as well as develop coping skills and psychological resilience.  

 

According to an article published by Jessica Groom on HealthPrep.com on Mindfulness for beginners, mindfulness, "can help students study for longer or maintain focus during an exam. Mindfulness meditation and deep mindful breathing have also been shown to greatly reduce the body’s production of cortisol, the stress hormone."

 

In addition, Many studies go into specific benefits, such as lowered blood pressure, increased immune system functionality, increased self-awareness, and lessened pain sensitivity.

 

Mindfulness and Yogic techniques will be explored as well as Mindfulness based painting & drawing; sensory mindful exercises; journaling; music therapy, meditative art projects; movement; & Qi Gong. Educational material, worksheets, experientials & homework will help reinforce program goals.
